A Life Without Suffering
Nirvana is the highest achievement any Buddhist can reach; Nirvana is a state of bliss and joy in which there is no suffering. Nirvana is often entered as death approaches, but in rare cases, it can be achieved while a person is still alive and healthy. Nirvana is different from Enlightenment; Enlightenment is a state of knowledge, Nirvana is a state of being. The Dalai Lama defined Nirvana as, "a state beyond sorrows," in which no temptations, pains, or griefs are experienced in life. Nirvana is the goal which almost all Buddhists strive for.
