Why Buddhism Was Formed
If you're a person who lives on this Earth, then you have suffered at some time in your life. Suffering is a plague, a disease which attacks all at some point, some people more than others. There are few if any people alive who actually enjoy the feeling of suffering, and nearly everyone wishes they had some way to escape it. So, is there any type of method to get away from the griefs that come with humanity? This is the same question Siddhartha Gautama asked when he set out to find a path which led to the overcoming of suffering. As he progressed through his journey, discovering more and more about the means by which to conquer suffering, he came to the develop his own system of beliefs, which we know today as Buddhism. Today, the teachings of Buddhism instruct one on how to overcome suffering. Buddhism's beliefs in The Four Noble Truths and The Noble Eightfold Path reflect this principle.
